JENNIFER MILLEDER’s approach to fashion design is placed between wearability and art to create an artistic vision through wearable garments and focus on the idea of wearable art. Pretty fascinated with designing extraordinary garments and three-dimensional draping, the creations are defined through strong, clear, yet dramatic silhouettes that focus on voluminous garment construction to explore the space between textile and the human body.
The collections are inspired by either personal experiences or aesthetic objects and are influenced by art movements. The designs want to evoke emotions and create an individual identity by creating storytelling garments that give people an extraordinary and confident feeling. Prints and geometric patterns support the desire to generate dreamy and surreal realities. The brand’s concept includes ready-to-wear pieces and sophisticated high-fashion image pieces that attract attention and reflect the brand’s philosophy - wearable art.
The designer graduated from the University of Applied Arts in Vienna under the guidance of Hussein Chalayan, Luke & Lucie Meier (Jil Sander) and Grace Wales Bonner, 2021. With her graduate collection, she won the Arts Thread Global Design Graduate Show in collaboration with Gucci in the Textiles – Print/Embroidery category. She previously worked in the studio of Iris van Herpen in Amsterdam, focusing on couture dresses, creating laser cut files and print developments. In 2023 she was honoured to receive the Designer of the Year Award sponsored by Vienna Awards.
